Chairperson’s Message & 2025 Convention Highlights
/A Message from the Chairperson
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Association for the privilege of serving as President for the 2024-2025 term. I am proud of what we have accomplished as an Association over the last year, including our educational seminars, networking events and, specifically, our very successful new leaders event, our NJ Defense publications, participation as amicus curiae on many significant issues, representation of our members on important issues before the Legislature and, of course, our advancement of the Association through the participation of our many members and Board Members.
I would be remiss in discussing the achievements of the NJDA without thanking those who have helped to make, not only make my tenure as President a success, but who have helped to make the NJDA the thriving Association that it is. Thank you to our leadership this past year, including out-going Chairperson of the Board Robert Luthman, as well as Juliann Alicino and Robert Cook. Your support and contributions over not only this past year, but over the many years you have contributed to the NJDA is greatly appreciated.
Thank you to our Board members and committee chairs for your attendance at meetings and time spent planning and organizing seminars and events. Thank you to our over 650 members for your involvement and engagement. Thank you to members of the Judiciary for participating in our educational events and sharing your knowledge, expertise and thoughtful guidance with us. To our sponsors, thank you for providing your continued support and subject matter expertise, which continues to benefit our members.
Finally, a very special thank you to our Executive Director, Maryanne Steedle, for her tireless work and commitment to this Association and who, frankly, keeps this whole operation running.
As my term comes to an end, I am excited for the incoming leadership of President, Juliann Alicino, President-elect, Robert Cook, and Secretary/Treasurer Katherine Lyons. I know that the organization will continue to grow and thrive under their guidance and I look forward to supporting their goals in any way I can.
As stressful and demanding as this profession can be, I truly believe that taking the time to engage with our colleagues through the NDJA pays itself in dividends. What I have learned from our Association and members is invaluable and has helped me to advance not only professionally, but personally. I hope that this message will encourage other lawyers to become more involved in the NJDA and engage with your colleagues, because it will benefit you immensely.
